Dr Erika Brady
PhD Alum
Erika has lived and worked in China, Canada, Belgium and the UK. Originally from Ireland, she completed an MA in International Relations at University College Cork. Since arriving in St Andrews, Erika has written articles on the Middle East and Africa for the St Andrews Economist, an online student-run publication. She has also worked as Guest Editor for a Special Issue of the Journal of Terrorism Research titled “Security and Counter-Terrorism Challenges arising from the Syrian Conflict”, published in February 2017. Erika works as a tutor for the School of International Relations at sub-honours level, as an Academic Skills Workshop Leader and as a Certificate in Terrorism Studies Teaching Assistant, CSTPV’s e-learning course. She also undertakes ad-hoc proofreading and research assignments as appropriate.

Thesis Title
Evaluating the UK’s Counterterrorism Strategy through a mixed-methods research design.
Supervisors: Dr Peter Lehr and Dr Bernhard Blumenau.
Research Interests
National and international counterterrorism policies, terrorist group dynamics, crisis communications in media and its impact on policy, political violence and conflict, diplomacy, Middle East politics and history.
