Scott is a PhD Candidate in the School of International Relations. Prior to starting his PhD, Scott completed his MA in Politics at the University of Glasgow and MLitt in Terrorism Studies at the University of St Andrews. Scott works as a political and security risk analyst based in Basra, Iraq and spends his time between Iraq and Scotland. The working title of his thesis is ‘Targeting the Far Enemy: Explaining Salafi-Jihadist Target Selection in Europe and the United States’, which aims to provide an account of al-Qaeda and ISIL’s target selection in the West post-9/11. Scott has previously held research positions in The Hague, Netherlands and the UK.
