Nadine Salman

Research Fellow

Nadine Salman is a Research Fellow currently based at the Handa Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence at the University of St Andrews. She holds a PhD in Security and Crime Science, as well as an MSc in Crime Science and a BSc in Psychology, from University College London. She was previously a Senior Research Associate at Lancaster University (2021-2023), and a Research Assistant at University College London (2017-2022).

Nadine’s current research focuses on radicalisation and terrorism in the context of political contention and protest. Her previous research has primarily focused on violent extremism risk assessment and management, risk and protective factors, neurodivergence, and practitioner decision-making. Nadine has also previously conducted research on human trafficking, migrant smuggling, cybercrime, and deception detection at UCL, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the Royal United Services Institute, and the National Crime Agency. Nadine has conducted research funded by the Centre for Research and Evidence on Security Threats, the European Research Council, and Public Safety Canada. Nadine is also a graduate member of the British Psychological Society.
