Kieran O’Meara
PhD Candidate

Kieran O’Meara is a PhD Student in International Relations at The University of St. Andrews. His current project, titled “Revolutionism and International Society for the Twenty-First Century: Exploring Transnational Revolutionary Groups and the Institutions of International Society,” delves into the role of violent and non-violent transnational revolutionary groups (TRGs) to uncover the meaning of their practices on the intersection of ‘international’ and ‘world’ society. Kieran’s work seeks to reinterpret, rearticulate and apply neglected aspects of the ‘English School’s conceptual framework to contemporary global politics and various TRGs. His interdisciplinary approach emphasizes methodological pluralism, employing interpretive, archival, exegetical, and interview-based methods. Additionally, Kieran’s broader intellectual interests include philosophical hermeneutics, the study of social movements, political violence, and the intersection of critical film theory and international political thought.
